Greg Laporta is an award winning pianist and composer. He has been writing music for film and television for over 15 years, with a list of credits so incredibly vast, it cannot be included in this small space.
When Greg is not creating music for his incredibly vast list of clients, he works as Academy Award winning film composer Howard Shore��s electronic music programmer, providing MIDI orchestrations and score enhancements to feature films, including Peter Jackson��s ��The Lord of the Rings�� and Martin Scorcese��s ��The Departed��.
When Greg is not working as Howard Shore��s electronic music programmer or creating music for his incredibly vast list of clients, he composes music for his own solo projects, just recently completing a new CD of piano music, entitled ��A Shorter Line��. When Greg is not composing music for his own solo projects or working as Howard Shore��s music programmer or creating
music scores for his incredibly vast list of film and television clients, he enjoys teaching piano and music theory at his home in New York City. Greg doesn't
sleep.

October 16, 1975 -
Anthony Albero exposes Greg to ELP��s ��Brain Salad Surgery��, altering the
young keyboardist��s mind and
changing the course of
his life forever.

September 8, 1980 -
As a birthday present to himself, Greg
buys Keith Jarrett��s ��Facing You�� LP
and experiences a musical epiphany.
Even the next morning��s massive
hangover cannot change the
fact that it was one
of the best
birthdays
ever.

March 27, 1988 -
Greg enters the realm
of digital sampling and
sequencing as the Eastern
Region��s Product Specialist
for New England Digital, where
he probes the mysteries of the Synclavier and unlocks its secrets.

June 22, 1994 -
After pulling an
all-nighter writing
string arrangements
for the next morning��s
advertising session, Greg
awakens at the console in a
pool of drool and realizes he has officially arrived at the glamourous world of scoring for film & television.
